The Human Arc was formed to accelerate, empower and champion the telling of human stories fueled by the core belief that each of us owns nothing more valuable than our own story.

As a fiscal sponsor, THA focuses on programs that accelerate and support transformational storytelling programs with the aim to scale the impact and reach each program has individually as well as the influence of the collective for the greater good of all.  The dedication of THA's work today centers on our society's most precious resource, its young people.

Simply put, young people today are growing up in an unfriendly world. They face looming challenges they will not be able to avoid as they become adults. Social media and video games are their main social outlets, in-person and cyber bullying is prevalent, global warming is happening all around them, easy access to deadly drugs exists on the streets, violent crimes are on the rise, and our world’s divisiveness couldn’t be more accentuated. We must equip youth with their own stories for their survival and for the sake of the world. It needs leaders. Leaders who are willing to be bold and vulnerable.

We currently serve as a fiscal sponsor for three youth-focused story-telling programs today that are designed to transform youth into warriors for human kind.

THIS IS ME (thisisme.org)

THIS IS ME is a video journaling program that gives youth a voice and an opportunity to build social and emotional learning capability through reinforcing curriculum that is being offered in middle and high schools. It's different from the growing list of programs designed to teach social and emotional learning in schools because the foundation is youths’ own stories as opposed to curricula that was predetermined by adults for them. The linkage to schools is significant because as youth uncover their truths, schools are supported in catching students who need mental health supports.

The Prodigy Camp (prodigycamp.org)

Prodigy inspires motivated young storytellers to make films and music that help make the world a better place. These young storytellers spend a week in the Cascade Mountains tasked with telling their impactful stories, artfully, while being lovingly mentored by a cadre of experienced film makers and storytellers including alumni of the program who are their peers. Families who can afford for their adolescent to attend pay for this highly sought after camp. We want to make this opportunity more available to youth from diverse social and economic backgrounds.

The 5000 Days Project (the5000daysproject.org)

What if we could stitch together a narrative about our life from elementary school through young adulthood? What would we learn about ourselves in the process? What a legacy each of us could leave to our families and to our communities. A story of childhood as it is traditionally told, from the beginning, to its end, gives one the opportunity to see where the bends and curves in the journey came about.  5000 youth around the world are given this extrordinaty opportunity. Some families pay for it because they want that video memoir of their child’s growth. The experience of watching yourself grow up because of the insights that can be gained from it should be available to any child.
